Background
Alt-e Technologies was formed in December 2006 to focus on the importation, distribution, and sales of renewable energy products in Southern Africa . The company complies with the South African Government's Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) code of conduct and has a 55% black shareholding.
The South African Government has an aggressive target of producing 15% of its energy needs from renewable sources (or some 10 000 MW) by 2013, and Alt-e intends to benefit from being at the forefront of any renewable energy capacity installation in Southern Africa . The company currently employs 5 engineers who keep abreast of technology improvements in the field and focuses on finding and implementing financially viable renewable energy solutions for clients. We have representation across South Africa (Western Cape, Kwazulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Gauteng) and Zimbabwe .

Branches and Installers
Alt-e has positioned itself as a Renewable Energy solutions
provider and tries
to use local expertise as far as possible in the installation of solutions provided. Our model relies on a network of regional offices and sales people,
complemented by a network of associate businesses. The regional offices run as stand alone profit centers focused on providing solutions for clients,
installation is done through independent local electricians and plumbers assisted by our technical experts. Associated businesses are for the large part
independent businesses involved in renewable energy installations. We provide design and product expertise for these businesses. Training is conducted for
all associated businesses and all regional centers on an annual basis to update them on products and services we can provide.

African footprint
Our strategy is to expand its presence across major centers in Southern Africa and is looking to expand its presence to Angola, Namibia, and Mozambique within the next 12 months through the establishment of regional offices. The company believes that the current competitor market is typified by small owner managed firms. The company aims to put in place a highly competent sales force that actively manages the client interface with businesses, architects, developers, and state organizations in the region. The success of this sales force is expected to derive from the fact that the company is not brand dependant, but rather acts to demystify the technology and provide financially appropriate solutions for each specific case. |
Technical expertise
We provide a core technical expertise at our head office in Cape Town and this technical support center is currently staffed by four engineers who are capable of designing systems from solar water and space heating to off-grid hybrid systems. The company also does energy audits for businesses and households and will, where appropriate, look to apply for carbon credits for certain projects. |
